Roma to sign Porto's Filipe

Roma are looking to sign defender Felipe from
Porto, according to reports in Portugal.
The 27-year-old centre back spent four years
with Corinthians before moving to the Dragoes
in the summer, and Portuguese newspaper A
Bola reports that the Giallorossi are looking to
bring Felipe to Rome.

The interest in the player may have orgininated
from when Coach Luciano Spalletti had chance
to watch the Brazilian closely back in August,
during Roma's defeat to Porto over two legs in
the Champions League playoffs.

There are huge doubts over the fitness of
Thomas Vermaelen after he has remained out
through injury since early September, and Felipe
could prove to be the ideal replacement, should
the Belgian return to parent club Barcelona as
expected.
