Ozil reveals what he said to David Luiz after Brazil ’ s 7- 1 World Cup 2014 humiliation

It was at this moment of great pain, of collective
national grief , that Mesut Ozil sought – in a
Freddie Flintoff- to - Brett - Lee sort of way,
although neither of the protagonists would get
that reference – to comfort the Brazilians with
tears streaming down their stunned faces .
Luiz, the most distinctive , the most traumatised
, was his target.

And two years on from the Mineirazo , with
Brazil set to return to that stadium for the first
time on Thursday , Ozil has revealed what he
said to a distraught David Luiz on the night he
was beaten seven times and Brazil ’ s illusion was
shattered.

“ Everybody knows the semi- final against Brazil ,
7- 1, ” Ozil told Arsenal .com .
“ Of course all the players , as well me on the
pitch , was a little bit surprised, after 30 minutes
[at ] 4- 0, you can’ t realise – ‘ what happened
here ?’

“ If you lose a big game like that in your country
and you see the fans outside crying and the
players crying , you feel with them.
“ So what I did , I went to David Luiz and said ‘ I
really apologise , you have a nice country and
nice people . We learned there and had a really
good time. ”
